Stealing or Receiving Stolen Check or Similar Sight Order
Chapter 32 of the Texas Penal Code defines offenses relating to fraud.
“Stealing or Receiving Stolen Check or Similar Sigh Order”, as per § 32.24 of the Texas Penal Code, occurs when a person steals an unsigned check or similar sight order or, with knowledge that an unsigned check or similar sight order has been stolen, receives the check or sight order with intent to use it, to sell it, or to transfer it to a person other than the person from whom the check or sight order was stolen.
An offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
Punishment Range
Misdemeanor A
- Confinement in jail for a term not to exceed one year
- Fine not to exceed $4,000
- Both such fine and confinement
