Joshua was born and raised in Sacramento, California. After high school, he was awarded a scholarship and played quarterback at Western Illinois University in Macomb, Illinois. At Western Illinois, he received a bachelor’s degree with a major in Law Enforcement Justice Administration. After graduation, Joshua moved back to Northern California and attended the University of the Pacific McGeorge School of Law, earning his Juris Doctor with a concentration in Trial Advocacy. During this time, he earned a spot as a member of their top 10 nationally ranked Mock Trial Team where he developed a passion for being in the courtroom.

Joshua interned at the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office during his entire law school tenure. The experience he garnered in Sacramento County solidified his desire to pursue a career in criminal law. Upon graduation from McGeorge School of Law in 2017, he was offered and accepted a position in the Sacramento County District Attorney’s Office Misdemeanor Trial Unit.

In 2018, Joshua moved to Texas to start a life with his wife; a Texan through and through. He was appointed to the position of Assistant District Attorney at the Denton County District Attorney’s Office as a misdemeanor prosecutor. During his time as a misdemeanor prosecutor, he grew his legal knowledge in criminal law and tried various misdemeanor cases. Continuing to develop his passion for criminal litigation, coupled with outstanding trial preparation, case analysis, he maintained a 100% trial victory record as a prosecutor.

Joshua joined the team at the Law Offices of Tim Powers in 2019. He is excited and honored to use his knowledge of the criminal system and skills as a trial attorney to unwaveringly defend the citizens of Denton County.
