I’ve written a lot of past blogs on leaving children alone in cars, but somehow this subject gets brought up over and over again. My question to the public is, when will this end?

Just today, 60-year-old Deborah Reece was released from jail after posting bond. Reese was arrested Monday, for leaving her 2-year-old goddaughter alone in a car while she went into Wal-Mart.

Police believe that the little girl was left inside the hot-car, with no air-conditioning for about an hour until a woman came and found the little girl crying. Reece was arrested when she returned to the car and faces possible charges of abandonment or endangering a child, which is a second-degree felony.

According to NBC News, signs are posted at the Wal-Mart entrance to avoid catastrophes such as this one. It is crucial that we are aware of our surroundings in order to ensure our children’s safety. There is no excuse for leaving a child alone in a car.
